These are the significant events in the construction of the Double Luck Station during October 2000.

Framing nears completion

The framing for the Station is almost complete. Unfortunately, there are some errors that must be corrected. The worst of these is that gable over the "ticket window" was omitted. This missing gable is (obviously) not seen in this view, although it should be quite visible.

Here we see some workers installing the Hardiplank soffits under the roof overhang. The Double Luck Farm House is visible in the distance.

11 October, 2000

We meet with the electrical subcontractor (Janish Electric Co., Industry, Texas) and walk through the Station to locate plugs, switches, and so forth. Since we anticipate that there will only be an occasional need for hot water, the specifications are changed to a tankless electric water heater. We also decide to change to an electric kitchen stove so that we totally eliminate the need for gas in the Station. We also meet with Sam Condra (Condra Communications, Columbus, Texas) to discuss wiring for specialty items such as telephone, security, and computer networking.

14 October, 2000

The pot bellied railroad stove for the platform has arrived. We are really looking forward to getting this installed so that we can start curing it. This sounds like an opportunity for Larry to have another fire adventure!

Windows installed

Most of the exterior walls have been added to the Station, and two of the Crestline windows have been installed. The "ticket" window (on the other side of the building) still remains to be completed.

In this view, looking from the back of the Station, we can see the area reserved for the Double Luck Biergarten!
