Probable problem with yeast autolysis. Various tasters could not identify the root of the problem, but the general agreement was that the beer was "pretty awful". That includes myself. With about 4 gallons remaining in the 2nd keg, 1 oz of blackberry essence was added; the result was actually quite drinkable. But I am still happy that this beer is gone before Oktoberfest 2003.I need to pay more careful attention to yeast acquisition and storage.
