Double Luck IPA (India Pale Ale) is a special style variation that
characteristically presents a lot of hop flavor and aroma.
In the days of the Raj, the British occupation of India, the troops naturally longed for their
favorite beverage.
Unfortunately, the warm climate in India was not conducive to the brewing of ale, especially before the advent
of refrigeration.
Beer for the troops was made in England and transported to India by ship.
Extra amounts of hops, originally used in beer as a preservative, were added to help the beer survive this long
journey.
These special beer recipes were designated as India pale ale to help distinguish them from the normal
pale ale available back home.
